Originally the most ancient ritualistic center was made with adobes (mud dry bricks), it was a circular ceremonial plaza about 14 meters wide built more than thousand years before they started the construction of the over four meters high stone carved walls. Nevertheless this other construction stage also makes Sechin the most ancient temple in America, which was decorated with this type of ornamentation that is a step forward in stone art and technology.

Knowing that America was populate by Homo sapiens between 15 to 20 thousand years ago by people who came from Siberia and lived for millenniums in the Bering land bridge or north Canada, both territories totally covered by ice at that time. Therefore, Native Americas ancient roots had little or no knowledge concerning mud bricks construction; it is amazing to know that in such a short time in Sechin was developed an advanced techniques of construction when that type of development took to other civilizations many more millenniums to evolve up to Sechin standards.

Sechin is located at 360 kilometers going in north direction from Lima, about 4 kilometers west of Casma and around 200 kilometers south of Trujillo where Chan Chan the ancient capital of the Chimu kingdom 1100- 1400 BC was located, Chimu was a pre Inca civilization that once dominated the whole northern Peruvian coastal area and made the late square buildings at the east side of the temple. Sechin is at sea level very close to the sea shore in a fertile valley at the banks of the river Sechin that comes from Andes Mountains in an East to West direction to fade away in the Pacific Ocean surrounded by extended deserts areas.

Behind the stone walls is an early construction period about two hundred years early, the material used was adobe, it had a very humble begging from a small room with five steps in front, later made a square central building decorated lions paintings finally it was encircle shortly before the stone wall by an adobe wall with a carved and painted fish representation at each side. Approximately during the 6th century AC before the eminent expansion of the Mochica civilization this temple was artificially covered with earth and abandoned.
