Some write the Kuntur Wasi or Kunturwasi as one word; but there is not a grammatical rule how to write this name. Because at the time of the finding many condors were site in the area this name was made by two separated words Kuntur and Wasi, meaning Condor’s House in Quechua the language that Incas spook and as such it is only a resent name made out of imagination, its real name is totally ignored there is no information concerning what language the Chavin civilization spook there; farther on, at the time when the Incas took over this region the referred temple was long forgotten for more than a millennium.

It was a high walled ceremonial complex probably made for defensive purposes as well to keep curious people away from their ceremonies. There are also many plazas likely for different ceremonies purpose often accessible by its four sides by a different number of step stairs made of stone bricks.

The front Identity of each statue is different to its back side and they are assembled in a way as if they were representing two anthropomorphic columns with lions head characteristics.

Their decorative carving and designs denote a great Chavin artistic influence and symbolic animals stylization but there are no sufficient proofs to say if they were the sane, akin belonging to the same civilization group, competence or even enemies that broke apart from Chavin the Huantar Temple influence as they have also their own characteristics that distinguish them from Chavin and probably it is an indication of a series of different ritualistic behavior that opens the possibility that they might have had great differences in between.

There is a great set up of water distribution or drains around the building but there is not certitude concerning the purpose of its construction, there are different ideas concerning if they were made for ritual, worship, sacrifices, simple drainage or multiple of these uses. Nevertheless it was made to house a great number of people for special events and ritual performance as well sacrifices.
