Huanuco Viejo also known as Huanuco Pampa or Huanuco Marca Peru was the ancient capital city of the Chinchaysuyu the Northern Inca territorial division of the Tawantinsuyo, a name by which the Incas referred to their whole territory or kingdom in their own language.
Huanuco Pampa or Huanuco Marca is probable a name with bases in the fact that in this locality were great abundance of Huanacos, they animals similar to the llama and alpacas but they can not be tamed as the others and run wild in that vast mountainous area.
